Acting mayor of Dandong, Shi Guang, met with the representatives of the Dalian Xinghai Bay Development, Construction and Management Center to discuss the building of a finance-and-exposition center in Dandong's new area on Dec 14.

The new center will have a variety of functions, including financial service, exposition and bonded exhibition. Its total investment is expected to reach 6 billion yuan ($946.8 million) and the preparatory work for the project has recently kicked off.

Shi introduced the development of Dandong's new area to guests. He said that despite the area's achievements in its initial development, its service industry still has room for improvement in terms of variety and quality.

He said that Dandong will be in great need of high-grade hospitality services when local tourism is further boosted by Dandong's improving transportation and infrastructure. "The establishment of this finance-and-exposition center will certainly be another drive for Dandong's tourism", he added.

According to Lin Hao, director of the Dalian Xinghai Bay Development, Construction and Management Center, the project will start construction next March and fully complete in two years.
