There was an eight-month tourism souvenir design competition in Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi province, and the final result was announced on March 4, with 100 works selected as the most representative Shanxi gift.

The competition was sponsored by the Shanxi provincial tourism bureau, with "Best gift from Beautiful Shanxi" as its slogan. It had two themes: Shanxi's three treasures and Shanxi’s gifts.

Fen wine, matured vinegar, and red dates were selected as three treasures of the province.

Niu Pengfei, from the West Hall Culture Co, said that the tourism souvenir design competition provided a platform for local young entrepreneurs. The gold prize granted to souvenirs designed by us would be a sincere affirmation for entrepreneurs. The competition also enables sales of souvenirs to be made in the market.

Feng Jianping, head of Shanxi's provincial tourism bureau, said that Shanxi has a number of rich tourism resources and profound cultural deposits, so many cultural factors can be found there. The competition not only strengthened the status of Shanxi's souvenirs in the country's tourism industry as a whole, but also made ordinary people more familiar with Shanxi's gifts.
