Shanxi province in North China is well on its way to developing a manufacturing sector after independently producing various high-end equipment on its own.

Before 2008, China had to buy shield tunneling machines from foreign countries. But now, Shanxi province can produce the machines independently, breaking the monopoly of foreign countries in the manufacturing industry.
