The Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone signed a cooperation agreement with Poland PCC Multinational Transport Co to develop China-Europe freight transport, on March 21.
The project will allow both countries to develop trade and logistics together, said the chairman of Poland PCC Multinational Transport. He added that Urumqi West Station in the capital of Xinjiang and PCC Kutno Station in Poland are important stations along the China-Europe railway and will benefit from the Xinjiang-Poland project.

Poland PCC Multinational Transport is an affiliated company of PCC SE, the holding company of the PCC Group headquartered in Duisburg, Germany, engaging in the manufacture of chemicals, energy and logistics.
Poland PCC's products have entered 17 countries and the company boasts nearly 300 block trains shuttling between domestic and international freight corridors.
China-Poland bilateral ties have become increasingly close in recent times, since China opened freight train routes from cities such as Zhengzhou, Chengdu and Xiamen to Poland. The Xinjiang westward train has also achieved normalized operation, according to Chen Gang, head of the zone, at the signing ceremony.

The Polish visiting group to the Urumqi development zone will facilitate the cooperation on logistics and trade between Urumqi International Inland Port and Poland PCC Multinational Transport, Chen added.
Urumqi, located at the core of the Silk Road Economic Belt, is a bridgehead for opening up to the west. "Urumqi's land port will contribute to the economic development of Urumqi and the Silk Road Economic Belt," Chen said.
Located in the heartland of European continent, Poland has become the transfer station for China-Europe block trains. Polish President Andrzej Duda said Poland has become the "gateway" for Europe under the Belt and Road Initiative and he hoped China and Poland could strengthen economic cooperation, during his first visit in China on March 23, 2015.
