2003: Chinese News Photography Golden Lens Award for Report on Farmer workers in cities
2005: 1st China International Press Photo Contest (CHIPP) Gold Award for Chinese comfort women
2006: UNESCO’s Human Contribution Award for The last clan
2007: 3th CHIPP Gold Award for Gray space--depression
2008: 4th CHIPP Gold Award for Stone carver in Lhasa
2009: The World Press Photo "Spot News" Gold Award for “Rescue troops carry earthquake survivor out of Beichuan county”
Also in 2009: 5th CHIPP Gold Award for Teacher in a mountain village. And Chen also received a Shao Piaoping News Award
In 2011, "14 Families (2000-2010): China farmers' survival report” was published by Jiangsu Literature and Art Publishing House
