Guangzhou: More favorable policies to woo makers

Chen Jianhua, the mayor of Guangzhou, Guangdong province, says that the city will launch more relaxed policies compared with Beijing and Shanghai to attract the settlement of makers.

Chen made this remark on July 20, at a meeting with media persons during the "Innovation-Driven Development in Guangdong" New Media Interview Series. The event hosted by Guangdong authorities will last five days, during which, national media is also touring to explore innovation sites in cities of Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhuhai, Dongguan and Shenzhen.

The top leader of Guangzhou made friendly exchanges with the representatives of major media nationwide and introduced the government's supporting policies to innovative startups.

Guangzhou, established in BC 214 of Qin Dynasty, has a history as a business city almost as long, as the unearthed cultural relics from the early Han show traces of overseas trade, mentions the mayor.

"The city will carry on with the fine tradition to create more favorable environment for makers and business startups," assures Chen.

And he quickly adds, "Especially when it still lags far behind Beijing and Shanghai in the number of top-level skilled personnel."
