China Open serves an ace lineup of stars

Tennis fans can expect a Grand Slam-caliber tournament during the National Day holidays after the 2015 China Open unveiled its glittering main draw lists on Wednesday.

The biggest combined tournament in Asia, the event will attract all available top-46 women players and most of the top-30 men to fight for a share of more than $7.4 million in prize money at Beijing's National Tennis Center between Oct 3 and 11.

Ten Grand Slam singles champions and nine current or former world No 1s are expected to contest the 1,000 and 500 ranking points for the women's and men's champions respectively.

World No 1 and 21-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams, Romanian world No 2 Simona Halep and Russian fan favorite Maria Sharapova as well as Danish star Caroline Wozniacki will spearhead a star-studded lineup at this season's final Women's Tennis Association mandatory tournament.

China's world No 38 Peng Shuai however has been forced to withdraw due to a back injury which will sideline her for the rest of the season.

In the men's field, world No 1 and defending champion Novak Djokovic leads an impressive lineup which includes five top-10 players.

Spain's 14-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal, Czech world No 6 Tomas Berdych and Canadian power hitter Milos Raonic will be in the 32-player main draw at the Association of Tennis Professionals 500 tournament.
