Chinese startup Talkmate ties up with UNESCO to promote linguistic diversity

China's one-year-old language-learning platform Talkmate announced a partnership Friday in Beijing with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote multilingualism in the cyberspace and protect endangered languages.

Indrajit Banerjee, director of Knowledge Societies Division, Communication and Information Sector, UNESCO, said the organization has showed its capacity in protecting endangered languages since 1993 and it has always been encouraging all relevant partners to contribute to the creation of truly multilingual internet.
