Geely Group signed a cooperative agreement with the Guiyang municipal government on November 16 to launch the M100 methanol-fueled automobiles project in Guanshanhu Modern Manufacturing Industrial Park in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
The project, with an investment of 5.6 billion yuan ($914.9 million), plans to build a comprehensive vehicle manufacturing workshop with production capacity of 100,000 vehicles annually, as well as an administration center and supportive living area.
Zhao Kezhi, secretary of the Guizhou Provincial CPC Committee, spoke highly of Geely Group. He said that Geely Group is a leading automobile company in China, especially in the area of automobile and new energy R&D. Its decision to settle the methanol-fueled automobile project in Guizhou can largely accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the automobile industries in Guizhou province, as well as promote ecological construction.
"Guizhou province has done a lot in driving the automobile industry while protecting the environment," Zhao added. "We hope that Geely Group can take this opportunity to make scientific plans, drive upstream and downstream industries, and help promote the development of the new energy industry in Guizhou."
Chen Min'er, governor of Guizhou province, said that Geely's methanol-fueled automobile project is consistent with the expectations of development and ecology. Guiyang shall join with Geely to make the most of the project.
Li Shufu, chairman of Geely Group, tanked Guizhou and especially the Guiyang municipal government. "Guizhou's development status and its passion for progress move me a lot, and I believe that it is the best choice to settle this project in Guizhou. We will do our best to make contributions to Guizhou’s economy and sustainable development."
Chen Gang, mayor of Guiyang, said, "The Guiyang municipal government is seeking the best services and policies for businesses and projects settling down here, and we will do our best to offer the best investment environment, supporting services and solutions."
