Universities in Beijing will open their doors to visiting students from neighboring provinces this September, Beijing Daily reported.

A comprehensive plan worked out between Beijing and Tianjin municipalities, Hebei and Shanxi provinces and the Inner Mongolia autonomous region states the five neighbors will launch a cooperative program of higher education, featuring key laboratory resource sharing, as well as student and academic exchanges.

The move is part of wider plans to build an educational community among the five administrative units in North China.
